To our valued DogHampton customers:

We regret to inform you that DogHampton will be closing on May 1 8, 2007. There is a possibility that it will reopen at another site with a new owner, but that is undecided as of today. We are making this announcement today in order for you to have as much time as possible to make other arrangements for the care of your dog.

In February 2005, Victoria, Barkley, Cisco, Dottie and I were standing in the space at 35 State Street R. The space was dirty. The floor was uneven broken cement. It was raw space. As the dogs were playing, Victoria had another of her original ideas: a dog daycare business to be located in that space directly behind eclecTechs. Over the next couple of months, we planned and worked on the space which came to be DogHampton, home to the dog day care, dog transportation and dog entertainment services enjoyed by so many area dogs.

Victoria had a passion and love for dogs. She wanted to give every dog a space to play in and a place where their human parents would know that their dogs were safe and loved. That passion has been our reality for the past 2 years at DogHampton.

Victoria loved each and every dog that came through the DogHampton doors. I would always love it when I would come at munchtime (Cisco's term) and Victoria would tell me about the different dogs by name.

When Victoria was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer last May, she was no longer able to be physically at DogHampton but was very active with the staff: meeting with them at our home and, of course, staying in touch with constant email. Whenever I would go to DogHampton, Victoria would ask me about the dogs and have me describe their faces. She treasured those gleeful moments.

All of our dedicated staff, and Amanda in particular, did an excellent job of carrying out Victoria's dream. When we announced this decision, the staff wanted us to tell you how much they love your dogs and how deeply they will be missed. We thank them for their hard work and loving care of all our dogs. The two years that DogHampton welcomed and celebrated dogs and their people were wonderful, but without Victoria's passion and vision at the center, we sadly cannot continue and must bring this business to a close at this time.

We have made many friends through DogHampton. It has been a privilege to serve each and everyone of you.

We wish you and your dogs the best and thank you for your support.

And, as Victoria would say, "One paw in front of the other...."
